But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Thanks for asking about this program. At the present ... it is supplied 'as is'. It just uses the following simple Windows call ...
w.MessageBox( NULL, verseStr, topLine, w.MB_OK );
to show a string in an elementary Window. Try here ...

The following are some of the reknown Iczelion win32 tutorials with their text and code updated for HLA (the original tutorials used MASM). Check back here frequently because new translations will appear on a regular basis.
Note: because of changes in the HLA language over the past two years, it's not a good idea to enter the HLA code that appears in the following documents. Instead, download the HLA source code (the zip file) and work from that. The source code for the Iczelion Tutorials (converted to HLA) can be found on the HLA download page.

Thanks David and you can speak about the Windows Assembly Language in details if you have time.
Hi There,
I play around with the win_versesPS, modify it to display some Buddhist text in Chinese, and find that works!
However, a little DOS screen comes with the Windows message box!
Does anyone know why? How to get rid of it?
Thanks in advance,
-hide2may
Did you use -w when you compiled/assembled with HLA?
Try this:
HLA -w myWinHLAprogram.hla
to produce a
myWinHLAprogram.exe
that doesn't show a 'black' window.
Hmm...David, I used the -w option as suggested but the weird thing is:
when I double click myWinHLAprogram.exe, everything is perfect!
However, when I double click the batch file winToday.bat,
the DOS thing comes with the verses window!
Any idea on how to get rid of the ugly 'black' window, sir?
O0
If you don't want to see the 'black screen' .... then don't use a batch file.
Use instead a 'shortcut' to the xxx.exe file.
You can change the xxx.hla program so that it defaults to what names you want ...
or,
change the xxx.hla program to read a xxx.txt file ( in the same folder as the xxx.exe file) when it runs ...
to read any data you may like to put in that text file.
Happy HLA programming.
David

0903 neither for the body, what ye shall put on. For life
0903 is more than meat, and the body is more than clothing.
0903 Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap;
0903 they have neither storehouse nor barn; and yet God
0903 feeds them; how much better you are than the birds!
0903 Consider the lilies, how they grow; they toil
0903 not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that
0903 Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of

0919 you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a
0919 blessing, that there shall not be room enough to
0919 receive it." Malachi 3:10
0920 "But my God shall supply all your need according to his
0920 riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
0921 "Charge them that are rich in this world, that they not
0921 be highminded nor trust in uncertain riches, but in
0921 the living God, who giveth us richly all things to
0921 enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good

0921 against the time to come, that they may lay hold on
0921 eternal life." I Timothy 6:17-19
0922 "Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a
